Assessment and reporting

Heatherlands Assessment Principles

Foundation Subjects

Children will be assessed in the foundation subjects throughout the academic year using assessment trackers, and reports will be sent home to the parents at the end of the Summer term 2016 coinciding with attendance, new classes, phonics screening and SATS results for relevant year groups. A copy of the foundation curriculum report can be seen below.

There will be opportunities for you to view your child's foundation report as they progress through the year at view your child's work afternoons. The report will be available to you within their theme learning books (KS1) or their humanities books (KS2). Progress will be highlighted by the teacher and a full summary of what your child has achieved will be copied and sent to you at the end of the year. They will be assessed as 'working towards the expected standards', 'met the expected standards' or 'exceeded the expected standards' (W, M, E).

Foundation subject report

Core Subjects

The core subjects (Literacy, Numeracy, Science and RE) will be reported on once in the academic year in a report sent out in the Spring term. This report will be a summary of your child's progress so far and will give you targets for the Summer term to aid your child's further progress within the academic year.

There will as always be an opportunity for you to meet with your child's teacher to discuss the report and opportunities to meet with the teacher at parents evenings planned throughout the year.
