  • Yr4 Brownsea Trip - Kimmeridge

This event will take place on 19/05/2026

We have been incredibly fortunate and have been offered a fully funded trip to Brownsea Island that has been funded by the National Trust and Starling Bank. This will link into our previous topic ‘Heavy Metal’ where we focused on Poole and we will build on this through a more thorough study of Brownsea Island and Poole Harbour.

The days that each Year 4 class will be going on this trip are as follows:
    • Lulworth – Tuesday 5th May
    • Kimmeridge – Tuesday 19th May
    • Swanage – Tuesday 2nd June

As this is an outdoor trip and we will be on Brownsea Island for most of the day, children will need to come prepared for all types of weather. We will be travelling by ferry so if your child suffers from seasickness, please include this on the Form attached to this email. The sessions will go ahead in light rain and cold conditions. If the weather forecast does not look safe for the booking date, the session will be cancelled or rearranged if possible.
Children must wear their school jumper for easy identification but can wear their own trousers and comfortable shoes for walking. We will be walking on the beach, through the wetland on the boardwalk and through the heathland, so the children will need to wear shoes/boots that can withstand this terrain. The children need to wear a waterproof in case of rain and we would suggest different layers that the children can put on and remove. These also need to be able
    to fit in their backpacks.
Children will also need to bring a back pack to carry their belongings and come to school with a packed lunch and water bottle. There are no refilling options so the children may need multiple drinks. If possible, we would like the children to bring their own lunch with extra snacks if needed, as we will be eating lunch a little later than usual. There are no bins on site so please make sure that you pack food that can be taken home. If you need the school to order a packed lunch, please contact the school office.
Please complete the From attached to this email to give parental permission for your child to attend the trip.
This form will also require information about any medical conditions, photo permissions and offers of help as we can take a number of parents to support us. If you indicate that you are available to help your child’s class teacher will contact you directly to confirm your attendance.
