  • Yr5 African Activities

This event will take place on 17/04/2026

During our Exploring Africa topic, taking place after the Easter break, the children will be learning about African culture, with a particular focus on art and music.

I am delighted to let you know that African Activities will be visiting school on Friday 17th April 2026 to deliver a series of African drumming workshops. African Activities are a highly experienced organisation whose facilitators have all lived in Africa and draw directly on their heritage to share authentic cultural experiences with children. Their workshops include:

    • Hands‑on African drumming using traditional instruments
    • Learning rhythmic patterns and musical techniques from across the continent
    • Storytelling that introduces traditional tales and cultural themes
    • Opportunities for pupils to experience elements of African art, rhythm, and community music‑making

This workshop will provide the children with a truly rich cultural learning opportunity linked directly to our curriculum.

I have been able to secure a substantial discount from the usual cost. However, the price for the workshop is £5.65 per child, which is payable no later than 1st April 2026.

I appreciate that this is shorter notice than usual, but the late availability of the booking allowed us to benefit from the discounted rate. If you require any support with payment, please do contact the school office.

Please note that, unfortunately, without sufficient contributions we will be unable to go ahead with the booking.

Thank you, as always, for your support.

    Kind regards,

    Yours faithfully
