  • Enrichment at Heatherlands

The children at Heatherlands Primary School will have the opportunity to experience events outside of their time in the classroom. We believe in providing wider opportunities for the children that complement their educational experiences.

During their time in school our children will have the opportunity to:

    • Perform in a setting outside of the school building
    • Participate in a musical performance
    • Participate in an art exhibition or museum exhibition
    • Watch a musical/drama production performed by professionals
    • Participate in a sporting event held outside of the school premises
    • Perform in the local community to support an event or facility e.g. care home
    • Learn a musical instrument
    • Participate in inter-school sports events
    • Take part in careers week and aspirations day
    • Become a sports leader, play leader, friendship buddy, curriculum ambassador or a member of the school council (The Heatherlands Voice)

    Additional Enrichment Opportunities

We are proud to provide additional enrichment to broaden children’s experiences beyond the classroom.

We always ensure that opportunities for Forest School and sports are included, alongside a range of creative and skill-based options.

Our enrichment programme for this half term includes:

    • Forest School – This term we’re focusing on looking after our environment. Children will spend time in Forest School, exploring nature, learning how to care for it, and enjoying the outdoors together.

    • Junior Dukes – A chance to have fun trying different activities at home that develop life skills, including first aid, cooking, swimming, trip or party planning and keep fit.

    • Commando Joes – Children build character, confidence and self-worth, armed with the life-skills they need to thrive in the challenging world in which we live. Missions are devised to help the children recognise the unique skills and talent that they possess, whilst developing oracy, leadership skills and teamwork.

    • Choir – Singing together is uplifting and fun. Our choir is helps children to share the joy of music as a group.

We are happy to signpost children to local clubs, facilities etc if they are showing a particular interest or skill in the field of sport, art and music.
