Heatherlands Primary School

Enjoying Learning Together

Welcome to Heatherlands

Headteacher Welcome

At Heatherlands, we believe that every child deserves the best education and therefore we have the highest expectations for every child who attends our school from the early years to Year 6. Our aim is for them to reach their full potential by providing them with the education that they will need, not only for today but to help set them up with every chance to succeed tomorrow.

We strive to make learning engaging, and we endeavour to provide as many ‘real-life’ learning experiences as possible – making learning exciting, interesting and purposeful.  Reading is the foundation of our curriculum, and we positively promote reading for pleasure as an essential, life-enhancing skill, asking our families to support us with this at home. We want all children to become confident and independent learners with enquiring minds.

At Heatherlands, learning does not stop at the end of the school day, our children are encouraged to extend their interests through the wide range of extracurricular clubs and activities we offer, we truly believe that learning goes beyond the curriculum!

We also believe that children should be encouraged to develop positive values towards themselves, each other, and the wider community of which they are a part. We work together to create a school where positive behaviour is the norm, and everyone is treated with respect, understanding and sensitivity. We particularly pride ourselves on our key school values of resilience, aspiration, motivation, respect and independence which are all underpinned by what we call, ‘The Heatherlands Way’!

Community is also exceptionally important to us and we are proud to serve our local community and pride ourselves on the home-school relationships we create. We acknowledge the importance of our families to the successes of our children and Heatherlands itself and therefore warmly welcome our parents to attend our many, varied school experiences from celebrating successes, attending special assemblies and viewing your child’s work to participating in parent workshops.

This website offers only an introduction to our vibrant and exciting school and the educational experiences we offer children at Heatherlands Primary. We would therefore like to extend a warm invitation to both you and your children to visit our school and see us all learning together first hand.

I look forward to welcoming you to Heatherlands.

Kindest regards,

Mr J. Churchill
