At Heatherlands Primary school we have aspirations for all children in our school community. We believe that all children should be given the opportunity to reach their full potential through personalised learning opportunities and targeted support to allow every child to flourish.

As we recognise that not all pupils who are academically or socially disadvantaged are registered for free school meals, we endeavour to allocate Pupil Premium funding to support any pupil, or group of pupils, identified by the school as being at a significant disadvantage.

The Governing Body at Heatherlands Primary School are fully committed to ensuring that provision is made which secures the teaching and learning opportunities that meet the needs of all pupils. This is rigorously monitored by the Pupil Premium linked Governor and additional Governors who undertake Case Studies across the school.

The Recovery Premium

The recovery premium grant is part of the government’s package of funding to support pupils whose education has been impacted by coronavirus (COVID-19).

It is a time-limited grant providing over £300m of additional funding for state-funded schools in the 2021 to 2022 academic year and £1bn across the academic years 2022 to 2023 and 2023 to 2024.

It is focused on pupil premium eligible pupils where the pandemic had additional impact. 

Recovery premium allocations will be calculated on a per pupil basis, based on £145 per eligible pupil.

This funding will be used to deliver evidence-based approaches for supporting any pupil based on an assessment of individual need across the school.
