Enjoying Learning Together

School uniform

The wearing of uniform gives children a community identity and also eliminates any element of competition over clothing. Our uniform is practical, washable and the children like wearing it.

     Looking smart, feeling proud!

We need to be smart everyday,

because we know it’s the Heatherlands Way!

Please note the following guidelines when ordering uniform

Early Years & Key Stage 1 (Early Years, Y1 and Y2)

Children in Early Years & Key Stage 1 need to wear a school crested round neck jumper or cardigan, white polo shirt with a grey skirt or trousers and black shoes.

Key Stage 2 (Y3 - Y5)

When the children move up to Key Stage 2 (Y3 - Y5) they have to wear a school tie which needs to be worn with either a crested v-neck jumper or cardigan and white collared shirt with a grey skirt or trousers and black shoes.

Key Stage 2 (Y6)

Children in Year 6 will wear a tie and collared shirt, grey skirt or trousers along with our Heatherlands Year 6 blazers and black shoes. There will be opportunities near the end of the Summer term to purchase second hand blazers.

Children in Key Stage 2 may bring a rucksack to school which can be purchased on the high street.

Non-logo items such as shirts, polo shirts, trousers, skirts, shorts, summer dresses (Summer term only) etc can be purchased on the high street.

Uniform consists of:

  • Grey trousers / skirt / pinafore dress
  • White blouse / shirt / polo shirt
  • Grey, white or black socks
  • Grey or black tights/socks
  • School tie (year 3 upwards, to be worn with v-neck sweatshirt or cardigan)
  • Royal blue summer dress with stripes or checks / grey shorts - Summer term only
  • Royal blue sweatshirt / cardigan with Heatherlands logo
  • Royal blue blazer with Heatherlands logo
  • School book bag

Sensible black shoes (not boots) should be worn (or closed toe sandals for warmer months). Trainers are not to be worn unless it is a PE day.

PE

Children are required to wear navy blue shorts and a coloured t-shirt (Heatherlands logo t shirts can be purchased from Price & Buckland) for indoor PE in all year groups. Your child will need to wear a t-shirt that matches their house. This will be Red - David, White - George, Blue - Andrew. For outdoor PE, trainers or plimsolls are necessary. Navy blue tracksuit bottoms (plain, without logos or patterns) must be worn in cold weather along with the Heatherlands sweatshirt or cardigan they have for their school uniform.

All clothing MUST be named.  Found, un-named items of clothing go into the lost property bins outside the front office.  Periodically these are cleared and un-named, unclaimed items of clothing will find their way into the next second-hand clothes sale, or will be used as spare clothing for children who need another set of clothes during the day.

If any additional clothing is needed for trips or forest school you will be notified in advance.

Jewellery and make up

We do not encourage the wearing of any jewellery. However, if stud earrings are worn, these must be removed for PE by you or your child for safety reasons. No other jewellery, nail varnish or inappropriate hair accessories should be worn in school, with the exeption of a watch or that of religious significance.

Hair

Hair should be neat and tidy. Any hair longer than collar length must be neatly tied back. Closely shaved haircuts or patterns shaved into hair are not allowed. Unnatural coloured hair, coloured hair braids and temporary/henna tattoos are not allowed.

Lost property

Please ensure all items are clearly labelled with your child's name, so that any lost items can be returned. The lost property bins are located outside the front office.

Personal articles

The school cannot take responsibility for the loss of or personal damage to personal articles or valuables. Therefore, please discourage your child from bringing his/her most treasured possessions into school. Unfortunately they may get lost or broken and the child can become distressed. Jewellery and watches can present a particular problem and in many instances are safer left at home.

Second hand uniform

There will be regular secondhand uniform sales throughout the year run by the Heatherlands Voice and Mrs Lloyd-Christie. If you require anything between these sales, please contact the office as we have stock available in school.
